About Chappie Movie

In the near future in Johannesburg, South Africa crime fighting will be done using oppressive mechanized robots. Chappie is an action movie where a destroyed police droid got stolen, became experimental and given a new programming by a techie. The newly installed program gave the droid the ability to think, feel and have emotions making it the first droid to have these capabilities.

When Deon Wilson’s company refused to let him go forward with his experiments on artificial intelligence he stole a decommissioned droid but was hijacked on his way home with the stolen droid by a group of gangster who are having money problems. They installed the artificial intelligence program to the droid and named the robot Chappie. When the company that built droids for the police force saw Chappie is a danger to their bottom line, they stopped at nothing to destroy Chappie.

Although it does not have the same plot, Chappie is a violent and souped-upped version of Short Circuit; a movie that came out in the 1980’s which is about a robot that acquired artificial intelligence. Chappie has its’ good moments especially when the droid has its’ “baby” moments where is like a baby learning and absorbing everything.

The movie has excellent special effects and great pacing with no dull moment. Yolandi and Ninja from the South African rap group Die Antwood play very outlandish and bad-guy versions of themselves which they played with gusto but somewhat cartoonist. For more movies, use firestick iptv.

Chappie is not the best droid movie but it is not bad either; it is an average move from Neill Blomkamp, the South African movie director of District 9.

Sharlto Copley voiced Chappie and also stars Dev Patel as Deon Wilson, Ninja as Ninja, Yolandi Visser as Yo landi, Hugh Jackman as Vincent Moore, and Sigourney Weaver as Michelle Bradley. Written by Neill Blomkamp and Terri Tatchell and directed by Neill Blomkamp.
